Specific Idea Research

Guns

For my final idea I’ve added more images to my weapons moodboard on pinterest including guns from different backgrounds such as Sci Fi and post apocalyptic. I’ve chosen these images as they stood out the most to me due to the amounts of detail shown in the images, I’d like to try and replicate this amount of detail when producing this asset as I’m extremely interested in this particular asset modelling.

One of my ideas is to merge two weapons, one from district 9 and one which is a concept piece. I will further explore this idea using sketches and blockouts to determine whether or not I would like the outcome. I personally think this could potentially be a rather original idea however I’m not particularly happy with copying someone else’s designs so I will most likely photobash more weapons together and include other details to change up the design a little more.

Room for display

My inspiration for the room where I will be displaying my assets came from the movie District 9 (as almost everything else hehe) particularly the scene where they are underground in a buried spaceship. Due to this I have collected various dystopian style rooms to influence the design and layout of the room I aim to create.

workbench

Below are various images of very basic workbenches which I will use as reference to produce a similar yet twisted version of the benches. I will most likely texture these in metal to add a rusted old feel to the asset showing that the bench has been used a lot by the person building the weapon itself which will be displayed on this asset using the weapon display asset.

Lighting

To light my scene I plan to create a relatively futuristic lamp/lights using the reference images below by taking certain aspects and merging them together. For example I’m planning to use a similar lighting style as shown in the kitchen image below, I could place this on my workbench to light up the weapon displayed.

weapon display

To display my weapon I plan to use a very cool yet extremely simplistic stand which uses magnets to float objects. My original idea was to use a very simplistic stand similar to what is used to hold Katanas however I personally think the floating weapon stand will look far better and will be more suitable to the theme.
