To begin my evaluation of Unit 11 I’d like to evaluate how my research has influenced the planning and creation of my portfolio. The research has greatly influenced the creation of my portfolio as it has given me a clear understanding of what universities/industries are expecting to see in order for them to be interested. This meant that I could go through my already created portfolio to add and alter certain pieces of artwork to make them more appealing and display some more development of the products created.
Overall I think that my evaluations have been extremely accurate in terms of tutor feedback, I’ve been graded merit/distinction for the majority of unit 11, however I have been advised to improve my annotations so that they are more reflective. This is something that I can improve on during my final project as I am aiming to achieve a Distinction to secure my spot at university after my gap year, I will do this by making myself a chart to help me with my annotations using PEEL (Advised by a fellow student)
During this project we were asked to produce some promotional work to add to our portfolios to improve the quality and add more for universities to analyse when reviewing our work. I think that due to only creating 3D models. Although I do believe the assets produced are to a relatively high quality which has greatly improved and I have also learnt how to animate using keyframes in Maya which I didn’t know how to do before. I haven’t successfully managed to improve on my portfolio however I have succeeded in presenting my work to a somewhat professional standard. I will improve on my portfolio by going through my old work and including some of my idea generations such as sketches, photobashes and reference material to display how I’ve developed my final pieces.
Throughout the project my work has been evaluated by peers and tutors giving feedback to help improve or fix mistakes made within my work whether it be lacking annotations or lacking content. In my opinion, I believe that my peer feedback wasn’t entirely helpful using the sheet however during classes I had discussions with some people giving advice on how to improve which was extremely useful allowing me to achieve a pass or higher. The most effective feedback given has been tutors feedback as they have gone into a extensive detail on how I can improve in future projects and they also point out missing pieces of work and more.
Overall throughout Unit 11 I have learnt a huge amount about the industry standards and requirements indicating a direction for my education, For example most jobs in the industry require a university degree which I then further researched to find the best or most suitable universities which would help me eventually reach my final goal.
