4.2 New Portfolio Work

For my new portfolio work, we were directed to produce things for our portfolio which we thought could help improve the quality of the portfolio overall.

Below is my first asset which I decided to model using a real life version of the rifle as reference which I think is useful as I can show how far I’ve gone to detail the asset by uploading images of the rifle and comparing them to the asset itself.

I personally think this asset turned out extremely well however I did miss out a slight detail but isn’t really noticable or even necessary due to the scope. Although I made this one mistake, I did however experiment with keyframe animations in Maya creating a reload animation which I think turned out extremely well for my first time animating.

For this asset I decided to model a viking style hatchet using a variety of images collected from pinterest however I did not follow the same process as previous projects to produce this. I simply found images and merged the ideas in my head to create my own style of hatchet.

I don’t think this will necessarily help improve my portfolio as all I seem to include are 3D models, however it will show a larger variety of models for future employers/universities to see.

The slideshow below displays a model which I have been wanting to create for a very very long time as this is my all time favourite vehicle. This actually took me a rather large amount of time, roughly 1-2 months as I started it way before starting unit 11 however I went back to work on and complete the asset to a standard I deemed suitable.

I did however make some mistakes.. Such as underneath the vehicle is completely empty leaving you able to see the inner polygons which are also visible from the side as I didn’t block the wheel arches.
